Microsoft Teams FAQs

How can I access Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams may already be installed on your computer. Once installed, Microsoft Teams can be found in your Start Menu or Applications folder on Windows or Mac, respectively. If it is not installed, you can download and install the app. Microsoft Teams does not require administrative access to install on Windows. Please see the Downloading Teams guide for more information. For further installation assistance, please submit a request for support or contact your local IT support representative.

Microsoft Teams is also available through the iOS App Store and Google Play for a consistent experience on your mobile devices.

You can also access Microsoft Teams via the Teams web app. Below are the compatible browsers for the Web version:

Supported
(the latest version, plus previous 2 versions)
Not Supported
Google Chrome (Recommended) Internet Explorer 11
Microsoft Edge Firefox
Safari 11.1+

What's the difference between Microsoft Teams and Zoom?

There are many similarities between Microsoft Teams and Zoom when it comes to holding an online meeting. Please see our Zoom & Teams product comparison page for more details on the two products.

Can I still join Skype for Business meetings?

Yes, you will still be able to join Skype for Business meetings using the Skype for Business desktop client or web app.

Will I still be able to schedule on-line meetings in Outlook?

Absolutely! The Teams Outlook add-in will allow you to schedule meetings in Outlook.

Please see the Scheduling a Teams Meeting guide for more information.

If you do not see the option to create a Teams Meeting in Outlook, please submit a request for support or contact your local IT support representative.

What should I do if I receive a firewall message when trying to initiate an audio call or join a meeting?

When joining a meeting or making an audio/video call for the first time using the Microsoft Teams Windows desktop client, you might notice a warning from the Windows firewall, like the one below, that asks you to allow access. If this should occur, you can allow access if you have admin rights, or you can cancel this message because the meetings and calls will work, even when the warning is dismissed.
