Class Gift Committee

The Class Gift Committee is a group of undergraduate and graduate students who spearhead the fundraising effort for the graduating class’s gift to BU and plan major events and promotions for the Class of 2026.
 

Role

The Class Gift Committee Board Members are responsible for leading the Committee in educating the graduating class about the importance of philanthropy at BU and meeting ambitious donor goals by Commencement in 2026. Candidates must be passionate, motivated, organized, self-starters who are comfortable with public speaking, volunteer coordination, and networking with students, staff, and faculty, as well as BU clubs, programs, and departments.
 

Goals & Responsibilities

  • Dedicate 2-3 hours per week to planning and implementing role-specific tasks (includes attending regularly scheduled weekly meetings)
  • Help meet the annual Class Gift donor goal by May 21, 2026
  • Help recruit “task force” members for planning and implementing role-specific strategy
  • Focus on one of the following project areas, to be assigned in September:
    • Marketing/ social media coordination, student group outreach, school/college outreach, event coordination, or fundraising
  • Personally raise at least 25 donors by May 1, 2026
  • Participate in the Class Gift Committee Challenge & win prizes for fundraising!
  • Make an early leadership gift by pledging to give $20.26 annually
  • Interact with staff and students with a professional, energetic, positive attitude
  • Encourage members of BU’s Class of 2026 to support future BU students—and to give thanks for the many opportunities their BU education has provided for them
  • Educate your peers about Class Gift & the importance of philanthropy at BU
