New CRC Student Application Process

Eligibility

To be eligible for CRC on-campus graduate housing, you must:

  • Be enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking Boston University graduate or professional student for the Fall 2025 semester. MD students should apply for Medical Student Residence (MSR) housing.
  • Have your BU Kerberos username and password. New graduate students will have access to the Graduate Housing Portal up to 48 hours after claiming their BU account. Students should refer to the email from BU IS&T for instruction on how to claim their account. If students experience trouble with the link, they should contact their college or school for assistance.

Application & Room Selection Details

The application consists of two parts:

1. Submit Your Application

2. Room Selection

  • You will receive your room selection timeslot via email before your selection date (typically mid-April).
  • Timeslots are assigned based on application submission date and time, and space availability. Selection will happen in multiple waves so not all students will be contacted at the same time.
  • During your timeslots, log into the Graduate Housing Portal to select a unit.
  • You will have 3-5 days to complete your selection and electronically sign the Graduate Residence License Agreement.
  • BU Housing cannot guarantee your preferred unit will be available to select. Once you select and sign for your unit, you will not be able to switch your assignment.

Note: If you do not wish to select a unit by the deadline of your wave, our office will cancel your application and refund your $500 Housing Guarantee Payment.

For guidance, you can view a New CRC Student Application Walkthrough here.

Policies

The Graduate Residence License Agreement is binding through the term session end date of July 15, 2026. Even if you graduate after the Fall 2025 semester, you remain responsible for fulfilling the terms of your agreement until its end date.

You can only be released from your agreement if you withdraw from the university or take a leave of absence.

Please note that the Graduate Residence License Agreement cannot be transferred or reassigned by the student at any time.

Waitlist

Once graduate housing is at full capacity, the application will move to a waitlist. In the waitlist application, you will be able to indicate your room type preferences. If a unit becomes available, you will be contacted via email with a specific unit offer. You will have approximately 48 hours to accept the offer and make the $500 Housing Guarantee Payment. Once the payment is made, you will be assigned the unit and sent the Graduate Residence License Agreement to sign on the Graduate Housing Portal.

If you do not accept the offer by the deadline, your waitlist application will be cancelled.
