Employee Referral Program for Open Positions in IS&T

In our efforts to build the strongest team within Boston University Information Services & Technology, we are introducing an Employee Referral Program, looking to the BU faculty and staff community to assist in recruiting qualified individuals into designated open positions on our IS&T team. This program will start on May 14, 2019.

If you refer a candidate who is hired into one of the designated positions and this person successfully completes three (3) months of employment, you will receive a $1,500 Referral Bonus in two payments.

How will I know if a position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program?

  • All current BU openings can be found on the BU Careers website.
  • Eligible positions will be marked with an “/ist” at the end of the job code.
  • To find all eligible jobs, simply search for “/ist” in the search term box.

Who is eligible to refer a candidate?

  • Current full-time and part-time Boston University faculty and staff who are NOT the hiring managers for the positions to which they are referring candidates.

Who is eligible to be referred?

  • Candidates who are not currently employed by Boston University.
  • Candidates who were not employed by Boston University within the past 12 months.
  • Candidates who are not currently employed in the Terrier Temps program or currently employed as temporary employees through direct hire.

How do I refer a candidate?

  • Send an email to istreferrals@bu.edu with the candidate’s name.
  • The referral must be received by Human Resources PRIOR to the candidate being contacted for an interview.

When is the referral bonus paid?

  • Payment will be included in your regular paycheck as a taxable, additional payment.
  • You may refer and receive bonuses for multiple candidates.
  • The referral bonus will be paid out in two installments*:
    • The first installment of $500 will be paid effective on the candidate’s date of hire.**
    • The second installment of $1,000 will be paid upon the referred candidate’s successful completion of 90 business days of employment from the referred employee’s date of hire.

* In order to receive the first installment of $500, you must be employed by the University when the payment is to be made.

**To note: An employee who is still on their initial new-hire probationary period will be paid $500 upon successful completion of their 90-day probationary period.

We thank you in advance for your efforts to help us identify new candidates to join BU IS&T! If you have any questions regarding the referral program, please email istreferrals@bu.edu.

Sincerely,
