NOTE: You can use IMAP to access Exchange mail, which allows you to continue using Thunderbird if you wish to. However, please be aware that if you use Thunderbird as your primary mail client, you will have to use Outlook or OWA for meeting scheduling and you will not benefit from a centralized address list that’s available from every e-mail client you use. We recommend that you configure Outlook to have it ready as needed and to test out as the preferred alternative to Thunderbird use. If you do want to go ahead and continue using Thunderbird, you will need to switch your server settings, as described below:

1. Launch Thunderbird
2. Choose Tools -> Account Settings.
3. Click on Server Settings below the account you will be changing. (It is probably called something like login@bu.edu where login is your BU login name.)
4. Change the Server Name from acs-imap.bu.edu to xmail.bu.edu.
5. Then, click on the Advanced button and make sure the “IMAP Server Directory” field is empty. If it is empty, click Cancel. If you see a /Mail in it, delete that to empty the field, and then click on OK.
6. Next, go to the Outgoing Server (SMTP) setting area and, if you see acs-smtp.bu.edu as the setting, edit it so it reads smtp.bu.edu. Make sure you are using that with port 465.
7. Click on OK.
8. To be thorough, Exit/Quit out of Thunderbird.
9. Launch Thunderbird again.
10. If you have any problems, review set up your Exchange IMAP account to make sure your settings are correct.

1. Launch Outlook.
2. Choose from the menu Tools -> Account Settings.
3. Make sure the acs-imap.bu.edu account is the one you have selected to remove. (It is probably called something like login@bu.edu where login is your BU login name.)
4. Click on the Remove button.
5. Confirm that you want to remove the account and then exit/quit out of Outlook.
6. Launch Outlook again.
7. Choose File -> Exit to quit out of Outlook.
8. Launch Outlook again.
9. Now that your ACS account has been removed, you can go ahead and set up Outlook 2007 to use Exchange.
10. If you don’t see all the folders that you expect to see, it should help to Go- Folder List and make sure they are listed.
11. As a final step, check your “Junk E-mail” folder (or equivalent) to make sure no migrated messages went there by accident. If they did, you can move them back to your Inbox, or other folder, by dragging them.

1. Go to File -> Account Settings and choose Account Settings.

1. Launch Outlook 2011.
2. Choose Tools from the top menu and then click Accounts.
3. Select your ACS account (the one using acs-imap.bu.edu) from the list of accounts located on the left side of the window.
4. Click on the minus sign (–) below the list of accounts.
5. Confirm that you want to remove the account by clicking Delete in the warning window.
6. Open the Outlook menu at the top and choose Quit Outlook to exit the application.
7. Launch Outlook again.
8. Now that your ACS account has been removed, you can go ahead and set up Outlook 2011 to use Exchange.
9. As a final step, check your “Junk E-mail” folder (or equivalent) to make sure no migrated messages went there by accident. If they did, you can move them back to your Inbox, or other folder, by dragging them.

1. Launch Entourage.
2. Open the Entourage menu in the upper-left corner and select Account Settings.
3. Select the account you’d like to remove (whichever account is using acs-imap.bu.edu).
4. Click on the Delete button.
5. Confirm the deletion by clicking either Yes or Delete.
6. Now that your ACS account has been deleted, set up Entourage to use Exchange.

1. Launch Mail.
2. Click Mail in the upper-left corner and choose Preferences
3. Select your ACS account (the one using acs-imap.bu.edu) from the Accounts list located on the left side of the window.
4. Click on the minus sign (–) below the Accounts list.
5. Open the Mail menu at the top and then choose Quit Mail to exit the application.
6. Launch Mail again.
7. Now that your ACS account has been disabled, you can go ahead and set up Mail to use Exchange.
8. If you don’t see all the folders that you expect to see, it should help to go Mailbox -> Synchronize and make sure they are listed.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Scroll to find Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
3. Select the account you wish to remove. Make it’s the acs-imap.bu.edu account which is probably called something like login@bu.edu where login is your BU login name.
4. Click on Delete Account.
5. Confirm that you want to Delete Account.
6. Use the back Settings arrow and you are now all set to Add Account and configure Mail to use Exchange.

1. Launch the Android email app.
2. Open the app menu and select Accounts.
3. Press and hold the account you’d like to remove (probably called something like acs-imap) and choose Delete.
4. Follow the instructions to set up Exchange on your Android phone.
