BU: 2020 National Collegiate Men’s Team Squash Champion

The BU club squash team won the 2020 College Squash Association National Collegiate Men’s Team Championship, held at Harvard University’s Murr Center, on March 1. The Terriers were awarded the Serues Cup (F Division) after besting Stanford 7-2 in the quarterfinals February 28, beating Georgetown 6-3 in the semifinals February 29, and triumphing over Bucknell 5-4 in the finals.   1. Given the international profile of BU’s undergraduate population, it is not a great leap to suggest that if we elevated squash to varsity status, we would be an absolute powerhouse nationally. Funding is always an issue. But maybe someday the money will be available. Given our success in hockey and now basketball, squash could be our next category of athletic excellence, where we parlay the strength of our cosmopolitan student body, location in the best college town in the US, and an inspired management team at the upper echelons of the university administration into attaining top ranking, year in, year out. Go for it!
